The Resilient Dancer

The foundations of fueling and self-care for training, performance and injury prevention.

Is your dancer at the studio 10 or more hours per week and considering dance as a profession?

Has your dancer had an injury in the past year?

Do you worry about whether your dancer is eating the right foods for the amount of energy s/he is expending?

Do you worry whether your dancer's body and mind will be resilient enough for a long and fulfilling career?

Do you want your child to feel confident and capable on their own to nourish their body, mind and heart in healthy ways?

If you said yes to any of these, then let's really talk about how to create resilience physically, mentally and emotionally for your dancer to have a long and fruitful career.
"Figuring out what food works for my body-it's not a quick diet or fad. You have to make the decision to approach your life in a healthy way."
~Misty Copeland

Misty is definitely on to something! She wrote a book about nutrition because she understands that her success was dependent on fueling her body for the high demands of a dancer and uniquely for herself. Dancers are high performance machines that require premium fuel to function optimally.

There are lots of ideas in the media about what is 'healthy.' And yet, today more than ever we have access to applicable science to guide us. In this course we will share verified information about what a performance athlete truly needs for longevity and will help your dancer create a plan for his/her personalized needs.

In this course you and your dancer will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of macro and micro nutrients necessary for optimal fueling, recovery and repair.
  • Learn about inflammation and how to manage it as well as prevent and recover from injury from the inside out.
  • Learn how to obtain nutrient sufficiency through food, supplements and lifestyle choices.
  • Learn to optimize energy and performance by managing blood sugar.
  • Explore the unique fueling needs of males and females for performance and recovery.
  • Learn the importance of gut health in staying healthy and strong.
  • Explore the risks and preventative strategies for disordered eating.
  • Explore ways to maintain a healthy dance-school-life balance.

Your dancer will leave the program with:

  • Individualized sample meal plans to guide fueling for training and performance on an ongoing basis.
  • Five or more snack ideas that s/he can make to support his/her own fueling.
  •  A vital self-check process for when s/he notices s/he is underperforming.

Lisa Spencer came to talk to Kate's NCL group, giving them info on fueling their bodies with the right foods, educating them on how to pick snacks & hydration for competitions, or tests, or practices, etc. She gave them more science than just reading the Calories & fats on a label, but not too much science where they checked out.  The girls really related to her and truly were very interested in what she saying :)!
